Our Story

How it all started...

In October of 1983, a group of people began meeting to plant an Evangelical Free church here in Hoboken. These people wanted to reach the community with the love, grace, and mercy of Jesus. They were led by Pastor Roy Oksnevad for the first few years as they grew. Pastor Paul Krause was then called as the next Lead Pastor and led HC for 25 years. During those years, the ministry grew and made connections here in Hoboken and at Stevens Institute of Technology. Over the years, Hoboken Church has maintained a consistent presence in the community and has celebrated many lives being impacted and changed by the love, grace, and mercy of Jesus.

Expanding the vision...

In December 2015, Hoboken Church welcomed Pastor Dave Haney to lead and shepherd our congregation. Under his leadership and vision, our church has been revitalized to better engage and reach our community.

Hoboken Church has become home to many. Lives have been transformed as people committed to Christ, were baptized, experienced healing, and found a community that supports and equips them to be disciples of Jesus.

At the heart of who we are is our commitment to living out the 3 Ss:
  • Stirred by Scripture – Grounding our lives in God’s Word.
  • Struggling Well with Life Together – Walking alongside one another in faith.
  • Serving Others – Loving our community through action.
We are excited about what God is doing and invite you to be part of the journey!

At Hoboken Church, we are all about Jesus—passionately pursuing Him and walking through life together. We strive to share His hope, joy, and love by building authentic relationships within our church and throughout our community.

You can always schedule a meeting with Pastor Dave to learn more about Hoboken Church and our community!
